Raúl Álvarez Genes, better known as AuronPlay, is a 37-year-old Spanish streamer, YouTuber and comedian from Badalona who spent almost a decade working at a graphic arts and bookbinding company before turning his hobby into one of the biggest content careers in the Spanish-speaking world. He launched his YouTube channel back in 2006, building a massive audience through sarcastic commentary, internet culture and comedy long before streaming became mainstream. By the time he shifted his focus to Twitch in 2019, he already had tens of millions of YouTube subscribers and was one of Spain's most recognizable online personalities. His nickname comes from Auron, a character from Final Fantasy X, a nod to his lifelong love of gaming.
The move to Twitch only made him bigger. AuronPlay quickly became one of the platform's most-followed creators, blending GTA V roleplay, Minecraft, variety games and his trademark dry humor into streams that regularly attract hundreds of thousands of viewers. Frequent collaborations with fellow Spanish stars like Ibai, Rubius and TheGrefg helped define the Spanish-speaking Twitch scene, while his relaxed, quick-witted style has kept him among the world's biggest streamers for years.
